7.62x25mm

The 7.62x25mm Tokarev cartridge was originally designed by Fedor Tokarev for his TT-30 and TT-33 semi-automatic Russian military pistols. When fired from TT-series pistols, it propels an 87-grain, 7.62mm bullet at 1,390 fps. The PPSh41 submachine gun was also chambered in 7.62x25mm, and it played a major role in the defeat of the German Army during WWII. While obsolete, Tokarev pistols and ammo are most likely still in military service around the world.

.45 ACP

The .45 ACP was designed by John Browning in 1904 and was used in his 1905 semi-automatic pistol. Originally, it fired a 200-grain, FMJ, .452-caliber bullet at 900 fps. After consultation with the U.S. military, and in consideration of the Thompson-LaGarde terminal ballistic study, the standard load was changed to a 230-grain bullet at 850 fps. It was first issued in the Colt M1911 semi-automatic pistol. Shortly thereafter, it was chambered in Smith & Wesson and Colt M1917 revolvers and the Thompson and M3 submachine guns.

9×19 Parabellum (Luger)

The 9×19 Parabellum (9mm) was developed in 1902 by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken AG in Germany. The standard military loading propels a 124-grain, .355-caliber, FMJ bullet at 1,200 fps. In WWI it was used in the P.08 Luger pistol and MP18 Schmeisser submachine gun. In WWII, it was standard issue for the Luger and P.38 pistols and for the MP38 and MP40 submachine guns.

.32 ACP

The .32 ACP cartridge was used in a variety of small semi-automatic pistols issued to military forces in the U.S. and Europe for the purpose of discreet carry. American forces issued .32-caliber Colt M1903 pistols to general officers and undercover intelligence agents. The military version of the .32 ACP round propelled a 71-grain, 0.312-inch-diameter FMJ bullet at 905 fps.

.30-06 Springfield

In 1906 the U.S. Military upgraded its main rifle cartridge by switching to a long-range, high-velocity load that featured a .308-caliber, 150-grain FMJ spitzer bullet at 2,700 fps. The .30-06 was chambered in the ’03 Springfield rifle, M1 Garand, BAR, Johnson Rifle and the .30-caliber Browning Machine Gun. It was the main rifle cartridge of the U.S. military from 1906-1957. It was also used by a variety of other nations. Combining the semi-automatic Garand rifle and the ’06 cartridge gave American soldiers a significant tactical advantage in WWII.

CPX-2 CB

Chambered in 9mm, the CPX-2 is a compact, hammer-fired pistol. It uses a black polymer frame built on a 7075-T6 aluminum alloy receiver to strike a balance between durability and affordability. The receiver is machined from bar stock. The trigger has a 9-pound pull from the factory. Since the gun features double-action-only (DAO) operation, the pull is consistent from shot to shot.

NORINCO Type 86S - Bullpup Assault Rifle

Type 86s rifle was produced by Chinese state arms factories as a commercial, export-only item, and sold worldwide through Chinese NORINCO corporation during late 1980s and 1990s. It is not known if this weapon was originally made for PLA (Chinese People's Liberation army), but present author suspects that it was intended for export only from the start. The simple reason behind that suspicion is that by the time of appearance of this weapon (late 1980s), PLA has standardized on Type 81 assault rifle as its primary infantry arm. Type 56 assault rifle (Kalashnikov AKM clone), which served as a basis for Type 86, was declared obsolete in PLA, and mostly sold for export. It is possible that Type 86 rifle was offered in selective-fired version for various government buyers, but I have no proof for that. So far all specimens of this weapon were encountered in civilian semi-automatic only configuration. Type 86s semiautomatic rifle was sold worldwide, and at least some found its way into USA before president Clinton vetoed importation of Chinese small arms into USA in 1994.

Caliber: 7.62x39 mm
Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt
Overall length: 667 mm
Barrel length: 438 mm
Weight: 3.59 kg empty
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds (AK-47 type)

Type 86s rifle is another adaptation of previously existing weapon of traditional layout into more compact bullpup layout. It was probably inspired by Finnish-made Valmet M82 weapon, which appeared about 4 years before Chinese version of the same basic Kalashnikov-type action. In the case of Type 86s, the basic receiver with all internals was "borrowed" from late production Type 56 assault rifle with stamped receiver and semi-automatic only "civilian" trigger. All furniture, along with characteristic safety lever and cocking handle was discarded. A new cocking handle was attached to the top of gas piston rod, under the integral carrying handle, and a new manual safety was installed on the right side of the weapon, just above the trigger guard. A short metallic buttplate was pinned to the bottom of the receiver at its rear end. Couple of features were copied from other designs; those included Steyr AUG-style folding front grip and FAMAS-style integral carrying handle with built-in open sights and top-mounted cocking handle. Type 86s rifle uses standard Type 56 / Kalashnikov AKM magazines for 7,62x39 ammunition.
